Piedmont Wine Tasting in the Wine Cave - It's all about Barbera and Nebbiolo

And Moscato is one of the hottest trending white varietals in the US today.  You can find the best examples of this wine from the Piedmont and most of them are under $20 per bottle.

We have two events featuring wines of the Piedmont this week and then our annual Gaja and white truffle tasting the following week.  We want you to get your fix in of the Piedmont while the white truffles are here.  We will also be featuring white truffles on the menu at the wine bar over the next two weeks for regular service.

If you have been paying attention to my propaganda you know that the Piedmont is one of my favorite wine regions on earth and this is the first walk around tasting featuring the wines of the Piedmont focusing on Barbera and Nebbiolo.  

For my taste if you would build a perfect grape varietal it would be Nebbiolo. It has the nuance and spice of Pinot Noir with the structure and tannic backbone of Bordeaux and other Cabernet Sauvignon based wines. 

Barbera is also a noble grape varietal with wonderful forward fruit and a firm hand of acidity making it one of the best everyday wines as well as a candidate for cellaring.
