The Big 8 Bordeaux Tasting from the 1995 Vintage

Saturday, October 7, 2023 - 07:30 PM

This Event has been read: 1928 times.

If all be true that I do think,
There are five reasons we should drink:
Good wine - a friend - or being dry -
Or lest we should be by and by -
Or any other reason why.

Henry Aldrich 1647 - 1710

This is another one of those wine tastings that we do simply because we have the wines!  Life is too short to not drink them!!  After digging through my stash of KILLER wines I figured these nearly 30 year old Bordeaux were ready to take for a test drive.  The big eight have a world wide demand and although they are some of the most expensive wines in the world this tasting may be the best opportunity to taste them- the 1995 Petrus is $5000 for a single bottle!!

Imagine what these wines will cost in restaurants that charge 2-3 times retail!   Then imagine if you had t buy these wines directly from Bordeaux today- a tasting like this would be 25% per person more after these new tariffs!!  Raise a final glass to having the best prices on fine wine in the world and write your congress and senate people tomorrow to tell them to stop this insanity before we go from the best prices and the greatest country in the world to drink fine wine to one of the most expensive!!!

How many times will you get to drink Chateau Petrus, Chateau Margaux, Chateau Haut Brion and Chateau Mouton Rothschild, and the rest of the first growths from Bordeaux all on the table at one time?  I have included a few ringers like Opus One and Chateau Leoville Las Cases just to make it interesting.  This is truly a "once in a Lifetime" wine tasting event.

Speaking of the big eight from Bordeaux check out this Big Eight Bordeaux offering at the end of this offering, we have a huge stash of wines here at the store ready to drink right now.  Come out and party with me for this epic 1995 Big Eight Bordeaux Tasting or look at the selection of these wines that we have and you can host your own big eight but the 1995 vintage is once of the greatest of recent time in Bordeaux and we only have a few of the wines on the table for sale from 1995 the wines at this event are some of the last bottles we have in the store and are being taken down for scientific wine research!!

This is a sit down pre-poured tasting and we are limited to only 12 tasters.  Chef Toni Lampasone will be making a special menu to accompany the tasting wines.  The fee for this tasting is $1250+ tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463 or e-mail andy@winewatch.com.
