'Wine makes the world a better place,"
Piero Antinori
...and we are trying to spread the word about the world's greatest wines like those of our friends from the Antinori Family of wines.
That is why we choose the Antinori family to honor this year at our Symphony of the America's Wines of the World Wine Tasting, dinner and live auction that happens this Friday night at Pier 66. Although we could not get a member of the Antinori family to attend the event (they are being honored that same evening in NYC at the Wine Spectator's grand tasting tour) we have Alessia Antinori here next week for a special dinner at Casa D’Angleo and Chef Angelo Elio is our honored chef this year for our 20th Anniversary of this great event this Friday and there are still tickets available call 954-494-1411. General Admission is $225 and VIP is $300, there is a $25 discount for the Chaine members.

BRASATO DI MANZO AL BRUNELOLLO, POMODORI SAN MARZANO E POLENTA CONCIA ALLA BERGAMASCA
Braised Beef Short Ribs, Brunello Wine, San Marzano Tomatoes, Cheese Polenta

Tenuta Guado Al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore 2011
Price: $130.00 Sale $79.20 Case $1326
A wine of the aromatic intensity and silkiness of texture was something rather unexpected in such a hot vintage as the 2011. The Merlot gave sweetness of flavor, density of texture, and a very intense aroma of black fruit. The Cabernet Sauvignon contributed an exceptional richness along with additional black fruit aromas, liquorice, and not the slightest hint of greenness. Cabernet Franc added a magnificent balance and poise, smoothing the elevated tannic power of the other varieties and, finally, the Petit Verdot supplied that light touch of spice which completed the bouquet. This is a concentrated wine, one of great class and elegance, a wine capable of a very lengthy aging and positive evolution in the bottle.
FILETTO DI VITELLO AL ROSMARINO E TARTUFO BIANCO

Marchesi Antinori “Solaia” Tuscany 2012

Solaia is, approximately, a 50 acre (20 hectare) vineyard with a southwestern exposure situated at 1150-1325 feet (350-400 meters) above sea level on soils of limestone rocks rock and flaky calcareous clays; the vineyard is part of the Antinori’s Tiganello estate. The Marchesi Antinori firm produced the wine for the first time in the year 1978, utilizing a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc, a proportion which was then repeated in the 1979 vintage. In the following vintages the blend was modified to include 20% of Sangiovese and the ratio of Cabernet Franc to Cabernet Sauvignon was also adjusted, eventually reaching the current figure. Solaia is produced only in exceptional vintages and was not produced at all in 1980, 1981, 1983,1984, and 1992.

Alessia Antinori is the youngest of the three daughters of Marchese Piero Antinori. Born in December, 1975 and like her sisters was raised in the family’s 15th century Palazzo Antinori, as well as on the family’s wine estates in Chianti Classico and Umbria where summers and weekends were spent helping the wine grow. She graduated with a degree in Viticulture and Oenology from the department of Food Sience and Technology at the Agrarian University of Milan in January 1988 and since has worked as oenologist for the company. Piero Antinori says that all three of his daughters have the two ingredients most necessary to produce fine wine: brain and passion. Marchesi Antinori’s heritage includes 26 generations and over 600 years of traditional and innovative wine production in Tuscany and Umbria.
