Critics have done the wine industry a lot of good overall.
Robert Mondavi
Cabernet Sauvignon is the most popular red wine in the world today and when it comes to immediate gratification as well as ageworthy wines this varietal it is hard to beat. Most people that drink wine know about Napa Valley's Cabernet Sauvignon and although it only accounts for around 3-5% of the total production in terms of volume of California wine it is probably closer to 40-50% of all the total dollars in terms of sales. Tonight, we have one of the top up and coming stars of the land of big ticket Cabernet Sauvignon that to some may seem like a value when compared to the other “Cult Cabernets” that are fetching 2 to 3 times the price of these wines or more…
The Cabernet Sauvignon grape is a relatively new invention in the world of grape varietals, it is the result of the combination of a white varietal Sauvignon Blanc and a red grape Cabernet Franc crossed by some mad grape scientist in southwest France in the 17th century. Because of its thick skin and relative ease of cultivation this varietal has spread around the globe and makes high quality full bodied red wines in many parts of the wine world.
Napa Valley has experienced several outstanding vintages in a row with 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 and we will be showcasing Napa Valley wines from the last three vintages from PerUs Winery at this tasting. These wines may still be a bit young, but you may not have a chance to wait to taste these wines... with the high scores and miniscule production in 5-10 years when they are starting to mature, they will not be available in the marketplace.
Join us for a special wine tasting featuring some incredible wines from Napa Valley's PerUs winery. Our Host tonight is Katya Kurtbek, Global Director of Sales & Marketing for PerUs and chef Toni will be making a special menu to acompany tonights wines. The fee for this tasting is $295 + tax, for reservatinos call 954-523-9463 or e-mail andy@winewatch.com.

From Prichard Hill 65% and 20% Tench and the rest is Cabernet Franc from Sugarloaf, a good amount of sweet herbs here on the nose with notes of dark plum and some earthy notes but lots of fruit up front and that sweet herbal character showing. 2017 PerUs Alessio Napa
Price: $345.00 Sale $303.60
(96 Points) The 2017 Alessio is stunning, and possibly my favorite in the lineup. A blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon and 42% Cabernet Franc, it offers a beautiful bouquet of ripe blackcurrants, black cherries, chocolate, toasted spices, and smoked earth. Deep, full-bodied, and beautifully textured, with a great finish, this terrific 2017 does everything right. It’s stunning today with a decant, and I suspect it will evolve gracefully for 15-20 years or more. Jeb Dunnuck
2018 PerUs Armaan Napa
Price: $500.00 Sale $440.00
(98 Points) Reminding me of a great vintage of Château Pontet-Canet, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Armaan boasts a dense purple color as well as ample dark, black fruits, unsmoked tobacco, graphite, iron, and earth. Full-bodied, concentrated, and powerful on the palate, this beauty has a seamless texture, ripe yet building tannins, and one great finish. It’s a thrill a minute and will evolve for 20 years or more. Jeb Dunnuck
2018 PerUs Janeen Napa
Price: $240.00 Sale $211.20
(96 Points) The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Janeen is another head-turning wine from this estate. Lots of loamy earth, spice, iron, and smoked red and black fruits define the bouquet, and it’s medium to full-bodied, with ripe tannins, a great mid-palate, and the balance and class to drink nicely today yet also evolve for 15-20 years. A bit about PerUs Winery
PerUs is an allocation only winery with Russell Bevan, the winemaker with dozens of 100-point wines from Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, drawing fruit from prized vineyards such as Tench, Houyi, Sugarloaf Mountain and Sage Ridge. Tench Vineyard shares a fence with legendary Screaming Eagle and is equally blessed with the climate, exposure and rock soils that have placed Oakville among the
greatest wine growing regions of the world.
PerUs started their first vintage in 2013 with 60 cases of wine and in just six vintages have grown to 1,200 cases with a portfolio of six wines while continuing the practice of producing nothing but excellent red Bordeaux varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc & Merlot.
