"Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine."
Genesis 27:28
Unfortunately, god did not give us plenty of Domaine de La Romanee Conti. One of the reasons that this is one of the most expensive wines on the planet earth is that they only make a few hundred cases of each of these Grand Cru wines from any vintage. The other reason is that they have had a thousand years of marketing in the wine industry. There are not many regions of the wine world that have the history of Burgundy's Cote D'Or and with that history comes a very high price tag.
On Friday February 16th here at the Wine Watch Wine Bar two of Burgundy's elite will face off! This will be a "Once in a Lifetime" tasting to remember!! Well, they all are…. but this kicks off my 49th B-day celebration!!!

1985 Domaine De La Romanee Conti Echezeaux Grand Cru
Price: $2500.00 Sale Price: $2000.00
Quantity in Stock: 4
Echezeaux is a grand cru vineyard covering the slopes above the Clos de Vougeot vineyard in Burgundy's Cote de Nuits. Like its famous neighbor, it is considerably larger than most grand cru vineyards, covering nearly 40 hectares (100 acres) of land. Echezeaux wines, made exclusively from Pinot Noir, are on the full-bodied end of the Burgundy spectrum, showing red fruit as well as spice and undergrowth characters.
The climat is located within the village of Flagey-Echezeaux, just north of the famous vineyards of Vosne-Romanée. It covers land stretching from the edge of Clos de Vougeot and Grands-Echezeaux up to where the Côte d'Or's vineyards give way to forest. The Musigny vineyard is just to the north, and a line of premier cru vineyards to the south separates Echezeaux from the Richebourg and Romanée-Saint-Vivant vineyards.

1990 Leroy Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Price: $2895.00 Your Price: $2547.60
Quantity in Stock: 1
(96 points)The magnificent 1990 Clos de Vougeot is medium-to-dark ruby-colored and offers a nose of waxy red cherries. Big, broad, and medium-to-full-bodied, it has satin-textured black cherries and spices that seemingly last forever in its interminable finish. This wine has great harmony, equilibrium, and balance. (10/2000) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

1995 Domaine de la Romanee Conti Richebourg Grand Cru
(94 Points) This wine is spectacular. Powerful, dense, meaty, and thick, it is exceedingly long and possesses a firm tannic backbone...Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

2000 Domaine de La Romanee Conti Romanee St Vivant
Romanee Saint Vivant is situated within the commune of Vosne-Romanée. La Romanée borders on La Grande Rue in the south, Romanée-Conti and Richebourg in the west, Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru vineyards in the north (Les Suchots) and in the east (La Croix-Rameau and Les Gaudichots) and also the village Vosne-Romanée itself in the east. The AOC was created in 1936. It takes its name from the Abbey of Saint Vivant, which in Medieval times owned several vineyards among the Vosne-Romanée Grands Crus.

2000 Domaine de La Romanee Conti Romanee Richebourg
(93 points) Bright medium-deep red. High-pitched, pure aromas of red berries, spices and flowers; a bit less "purple" than usual for this cuvee Gentle and rich but not yet focused in the mouth, with a pronounced note of coffee torrefaction. I find this a bit vague for Richebourg today, but certainly a lovely pinot in the making. (3/2002) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

2007 Domaine De La Romanee Conti Echezeaux Grand Cru
Price: $1398.00 Your Price: $1230.24
Quantity in Stock: 4
(90 Points) obvious earth notes that transfer over to the detailed, balanced and energetic flavors that possess excellent transparency on the vibrant and mouth coating finish. There is a lingering inner mouth perfume here that makes this quite seductive. Not surprisingly, this changed rather dramatically in the hour that I had to evaluate the '07s and the seemingly lighter weight flavors put on noticeable flesh though the nose slowly closed in on itself. 2005 Domaine Leroy Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Narbantons
Price: $995.00 Your Price: $875.60
Quantity in Stock: 9
(92 Points) Insiders have long known that one of the treasures of the Leroy portfolio is the Savigny Les Beaune-Les Narbantons. Consistently the finest wine made in that appellation, it achieves grand cru quality because of its extraordinary richness and multidimensional character. The 1990 is awesome. The forceful bouquet, which is just beginning to form, soars from the glass, offering up aromas of minerals, toasty oak, and gobs of black fruit. In the mouth, there is magnificent richness, medium to full-body, and a layered, multi-dimensional, chewy texture that goes on and on. The moderate tannins are nearly obscured by the wine's sweet concentration of fruit. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

2007 Leroy Vosne Romanee Les Beaux Monts
Vosne Romanée is situated just to the north of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The two greatest vineyards of Vosne and Flagey-Echezeaux, are entitled to use the Vosne-Romanée appellation. Characteristics " Les Beaux Monts " consits of different contiguous parcels lying astride the border between Vosne Romanée and Flagey Echezeaux, at the western edge of the communes

2007 Leroy Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Clos De La Roche is situated in the commune of Morey-Saint-Denis in the Côte-d'Or département. Clos de la Roche is located in the northern part of the commune, stretches to the border of Gevrey-Chambertin, and borders to the Grand Cru vineyard Clos Saint-Denis in the south. It borders the Route des Grands Crus in the east. The AOC was created in 1936, and the Clos part of its name refers to a wall-enclosed vineyard.
