“Someone said drink the water, but I will drink the wine / Someone said take a poor man, the rich don’t have a dime / Go fool yourself, if you will, I just haven’t got the time / I’ll give you back your water, and I will take the wine.”

Frank Sinatra
The Voice

Water and wine are the only two things that I drink for the most part and hey why do we need water after all wine is 80-85% water!!

The party continues this summer at the Wine Bar we have another great line-up of wines for another Happy Hour style tasting.  This is our more casual walk around events and to start this tasting out we are popping a 3 Liter Bottle of Ultimate Provence Rose… because nothing says party like a Jerobaum!  This week’s theme is summer Rose and Chablis, two perfect wines for summertime but hey it’s summer year round here in South Florida!!

We have over 20 wines on the table tonight from all over the world and Chef Toni will be making some tasty treats to accompany the tasting wines.  The fee for this event is $75 + tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463 or e-mail andy@winewatch.com.

Happy Hour Wine Tasting Featuring Rose and Chablis

2022 Chateau de Manissy Tavel Cuvee des Lys Rose Rhone, France image
2022 CHATEAU DE MANISSY TAVEL CUVEE DES LYS ROSE RHONE, FRANCE
Price: $20.25           Your Price: $17.82
(92 Points) The 2022 Tavel Cuvee des Lys appears a bit lighter in the glass than the Trinite bottling; the blend is 60% Grenache, 30% Clairette and 10% Syrah. Scents of crushed stone, citrus and strawberries appear on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is tighter and more structured, revealing an almost stony austerity that lingers through the long finish. It's the rare rose that might be even better next year around this time. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

2021 CHATEAU LA MASCARONNE "QUAT 'SAISONS" ROSE COTES DU PROVENCE
Price: $28.50           Your Price: $25.08            Quantity in Stock: 34
Certified Agriculture Biologique Château La Mascaronne Rosé reveals the essence of the terroir from which it is produced. An exceptional rosé, it derives its quality not only from the grape varieties that comprise its blend but also from the soils on which the estate’s grapevines are planted. The Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Vermentino grapes, typical Provence varieties, are harvested at the height of ripeness. When enjoyed young, Château La Mascaronne Rosé is delightful before or with a meal. But it is also marvelous after several years of aging, a more unusual feat for a rosé wine. The wine’s luminous pink hue makes it immediately identifiable as a Provence wine and is like a foretaste of the luscious, complex aromas of fresh, ripe fruit that it delivers.

A "winter rosé," deep, almost pinkish, onionskin color typical of Pinot Grigio from Friuli. The nose reveals a powerful floral note, with a touch of tropical fruits in the end. Shades of clay and gypsum typical of the terroir are also present. It tastes full bodied and fresh with a great structure given by the maceration that matches very well with the acidity and salinity in the aftertaste.

Andremily Rose, Santa Barbara, California, United States 2021

2021 ANDREMILY WINES ROSE CALIFORNIA
Price: $84.00                   Your Price: $73.92              Quantity in Stock: 12
Andremily Wines has quickly earned the respect and now sits alongside some of the greatest producers of Rhône-varietal blends in California’s Central Coast.  This should not come as a surprise as owner and winemaker Jim Binns earned his winemaker wings during his 12 years as assistant winemaker to Manfred Krankl at Sine Qua Non (2006-2017).  During his tenure at Sine Qua Non they achieved an amazing 27×100 points scores!   Jim continues to add to his fame with every vintage as his stunning line-up at Andremily seems to just get better and better every year, balancing hedonism and elegance to near perfection every year.

Jim and his wife Rachel’s work hand and hand with their two children which were the inspiration of the winery name.  Andremily was inspired by, their son Andrew, and daughter Emily.  When thinking of names for their new brand, they wanted their new venture to express a sense of family, which was accomplished by combining both of their children’s first names.   In 2012, Andremily was born and Jim decided to moved on from Sine Qua Non in 2017 in an effort to dedicate 100% all of his time and efforts to Andremily Wines.  The winery is located in the coastal city of Ventura, where they bring their rare elixirs through elevage.

Manfred Krankl was very supportive from day one, and literally gifted Jim SQN’s contracts for two of his prized blocks of the White Hawk Vineyard in Santa Barbara’s Cat Canyon.  Jim then started looking for other sources to compliment White Hawk, and luckily was able to secure a few great blocks at the Larner Vineyard in Ballard Canyon and then Alta Mesa Vineyard in the Cuyama Valley. Thus the foundation of Andremily winery was firmly in place and the debut 2012 vintage of ‘Andremily No.1’ was released to huge critical acclaim.  A few more sources have been added to the tool box since, including the purchase of the Slide Vineyard in Edna Valley, which marks the beginning of Andremily Estate Vineyard.

Jim like most wine producers considers the vineyards and his team to be farmers first and therefor everything starts in the vineyards.  They work tirelessly to control the yields and to ensure a uniform balanced vineyard.  The fruit must be picked at optimal ripeness, then it goes through a series of sorting tables before it finally reaches the fermentation vessels.  Then before fermentation the grapes undergo a period of cold soaking before fermentation takes place.  The whole process from vineyard to winery at Andremily is very hands-on:   They monitor each fermentation closely, and work to optimize extraction at every point in the process.  After the fermentation is complete the finished wine goes into French oak barrels of which 60%-70% are new.   Andremily wines usually spend 22- 28 months in barrel before bottling but every vintage demands a slightly different regime at the winery.

(92 Points) The 2022 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru, aged half in foudres and half in stainless steel, has another quite backward nose with touches of nettle and asparagus, hints of orange rind emerging with time in the glass. The palate is fresh on the entry, taut and linear, unashamedly malic and appley in style with a strict, almost terse finish. Fine.  Vinous

Brocard Chablis Vaulorent Premier Cru ...

2020 JEAN MARC BROCARD CHABLIS VAULORENT 1ER CRU

2021 JEAN MARC BROCARD CHABLIS MONTEE DE TONNERRE 1ER CRU
Price: $65.00                   Your Price: $57.20
