“I love everything that is old; old friends, old times, old manners, old books, old wines. “
- Oliver Goldsmith, The Vicar of Wakefield
We love vintage wines and have some incredible tastings featuring wines going back over 60+ years of age. I tend to like wines that still have a good amount of fruit left and although you can keep Bordeaux for a long time in some cases 50-100 years I tend to like them from 20-40 years of age. For my taste that is when great Bordeaux from great vintages really starts to hit its peak years of drinkability.
Looking around the store I found that we had a bottle of 1964 vintage Chateau Leoville Las Cases, so I figured it’s time to do a little experiment to see just how this vintage is drinking and of course to celebrate all the 1964 vintage babies that are turning 60 years old this year.
We have an incredible line-up of wines on the table for this event including 1983 Chateau Lafite Rothschild and 1995 Chateau Mouton Rothschild two of the first growths from Pauillac from vintages that are drinking at their peak for my palate and the price of admission is ½ the price of either wine! Did I mention we are also serving you dinner?
The fee for this tasting which includes dinner is $395 + tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463 or e-mail andy@winewatch.com. Please let us know when you make your reservations if you have any dietary restrictions and chefs Toni and Dani will be happy to accommodate you.
