After the success of the last few week’s “Happy Hour” tastings, we have decided to carry on this casual event over the summer and this tasting is a belly up to the bar, hang out with your friends.  The food is casual, this is not a sit-down dinner- a true “Happy Hour” style event mix and immingle with our “Wine Drinking People” but with GREAT wines.  On Thursday, August 11th we have a great selection of wines from SommSelect with not one but two special guests; Sebastian Verrier (President) and Juan Ernest Hernandez (VP of Stories) on hand to talk about the wines.

This is a wine that takes Torrontes to the next level. Shows intense aromatics of lemon, citrus notes with wonderful texture, a backbone of minerality and acidity that keeps the wine long on the palette.

2018 San Pedro de Yacochuya Malbec-Cabernet Salta Argentina

San Pedro de Yacochuya is the winery of flying Bordeaux winemaker Michel Rolland and the Etchart family in Salta’s Cafayate valley. Making perfumed Torrontes and powerful Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.
From the 60-year-old vines of Finca Yacochuya in Valles Calchaquíes, the grapes are handpicked and the wines are aged in French oak barrels. Yacochuya wines were the first to be barrel-fermented in Argentina.
Bright with an intense violet color. Intense aroma, sweet entry, balanced acidity with a very marked fruity character, and a contribution of oak that gives it complexity. In the mouth it repeats the fruity character, with good varietal typicity, spicy touches, firm and ripe tannins. Slight taste of pepper provided by the Cabernet Sauvignon.

One of the Michel Roland projects from the northern region of Salta, this wine has a very strong bouquet of fine herbs, a bit of a green vegetal quality here along with some dried meats and dark plum and berry fruit, lovely intensity here on the nose. Peppery spicy notes to the dark plum and berry fruit on the tongue with a firm hand of tannins and a lovely freshness to the finish, a big wine and has some dry tannins at the end, very herbal right now. Finish 50+ A big wine with 16% alcohol but wears it well! Most Excellent

Saint-Péray is a French wine Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) in the northern Rhône wine region of France. Located in the southernmost part of Northern Rhône, the appellation is very small and not widely known. The production is mainly white sparkling wine, somewhat like Champagne. However, some still wine is also made. All Saint-Péray wine is white.
