"I have enjoyed great health at a great age because everyday, since I can remember I have consumed a bottle of wine except when I have not felt well. Then I have consumed two bottles."
-A Bishop of Seville Baron
I try to drink two bottles every day and the “Two Bottle per Day Wine Diet” will be out before the end of the year- I promise. I know that my “Wine Drinking People” are anxious to know how I keep my slim and trim figure while drinking two bottles of wine every day and this book has everything you need to know to keep your figure while drinking everyday with me.
We have been big fans of Fisher Vineyards from Napa Valley for decades and when our good friend Lizz Cintron was in earlier this year to taste us on the new releases we set a date for her to come back and host a wine tasting at the Wine Bar.
This will be one of the first tastings with a real winery personality this year and you don’t want to miss this tasting as we are opening up all the older vintage Fisher wines we have in the store this evening!! Last time Lizz was here I was in Portugal so we’re making up for lost time!!
The fee for this tasting which includes dinner is $250 + tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463 or e-mail andy@winewatch.com.

Fisher Vineyards Wine Tasting with Special Guest Lizz Cintron

2019 Fisher Unity Rose Napa
Price: $37.25 Your Price: $32.78
The surprise of the night for many of the tasters was the Rose, which I did not taste earlier in the day when Juelle stopped by the store to taste me on these wines. When most people see a pink wine in this country they still think of sweet white zinfandel so many don't even bother to try it but if you know the winery you know that Fisher would not put out s light and sweet pink wine. This wine had a nice red cherry fruit with pretty floral notes and a bone dry finish, a very refreshing rose and perfect for South Florida.
Tasting Wines

2018 Fisher Mountain Chardonnay Estate
Price: $72.75 Your Price: $64.02
The 2018 Chardonnay Mountain Estate Vineyard is bright and tightly wound, which will serve it well in aging. Lemon confit, almond, dried flowers and chamomile are finely cut. In 2018, the Mountain Estate Chardonnay offers lovely translucence. The late harvest with cool nights yielded a Chardonnay built on tension and persistence more than size.
2015 Fisher Chardonnay Mountain Estate
Price: $72.75 Your Price: $64.02 Quantity in Stock: 4
(92 Points) Fisher's 2015 Chardonnay Mountain Estate Vineyard has turned out beautifully. Soft, silky and nuanced, the 2015 speaks to finesse above all else. Time in barrel seems to have really calmed down the Estate relative to how it showed a year ago. Tangerine, lemon peel and expressive floral notes grace the polished, understated finish. Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

2014 Fisher Chardonnay Whitney's Vineyard Sonoma County
Price: $85.50 Your Price: $75.24
(93 Points) A rich, powerful wine, the 2014 Chardonnay Whitney's Vineyard shows the personality of the Wente clone on these hillside vineyards. Dried pear, hazelnut, chamomile, butter and dried flowers give the 2014 much of its creamy, layered personality. Oily, voluptuous and racy to the core, the 2014 boasts superb depth and overall intensity. This is a highly expressive Chardonnay built on power and structure. Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

2018 Fisher Vineyards Unity Cabernet Sauvignon
Price: $53.75 Your Price: $47.30
The 2018 Unity Cabernet Sauvignon is an opulent wine with aromas of ripe cherry, cigar box and hints of lavender. On the palate flavors of Santa Rosa plum are layered with rich caramel, rhubarb and toasted oak, finishing with decadent notes of mixed black fruits and dark cocoa.

Fisher Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Mountain Estate Vineyard 2014
Price: $82.50 Sale $72.60
(93 Points) The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Mountain Estate Vineyard is gorgeous. Dark, powerful and inviting, but with plenty of Sonoma structure underpinning the wine's structure. Black cherry, mocha, plum and spice are front and center. Bold, intense and racy, the 2014 exudes concentration and richness from the very first taste. This is a superb wine, especially at this level. Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
2015 Fisher Cabernet Sauvignon Mountain Estate Sonoma County
Price: $101.25 Your Price: $89.10
Only 670 cases of this vintage produced. A good hand of fresh earth here on the nose with fine herbs and dark coco like spice to the black currant and dark cherry fruit. Fresh and lively on the tongue with a solid core of black cherry currant berry fruit on the tongue, firm tannins and a good hand of fresh earth mineral/graphite and dark coco spice showing on the finish this wine is very big but still elegant and balanced but it needs a bit more time, try it in 3-5 years. Finish 50 Most Excellent

(93 Points) Fisher’s 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Lamb Vineyard is a beautiful example of this site. Savory, perfumed and structured, the 2011 captures the best qualities of the year. Sage, rosemary, cedar and cloves add complexity to the dark blue/blackish fruit. Graphite, iron and melted road tar develop later, giving the wine much of its depth and gravitas. This is another hugely promising wine. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2026. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

A bit about Fisher Vineyards:

Founded in 1973 by Fred and Juelle Fisher, Fisher Vineyards grows and produces wines from both its Napa Valley Estate and Spring Mountain Estate (Sonoma County). Today, Fred and Juelle's three children, Whitney, Robert and Cameron, have joined Fisher Vineyards and are leading the way to a second generation of fine wines.
They have two different vineyard sites, one up on Spring Mountain and one on the Valley floor in Calistoga.
The Spring Mountain estate vineyard is an original homestead ranch, Fisher Vineyards' Spring Mountain Estate was purchased by Fred and Juelle Fisher in 1973 (unplanted at the time). Today, the pioneering work to develop these mountain vineyards is awe inspiring to nearly every visitor. Driven by the dream to produce completely distinctive, world-class wines, Fred and Juelle undertook an ambitious 35 year development that has yielded several wines of great distinction.
The Spring Mountain Estate encompasses approximately 100 acres, only 30 of which are planted, and is located on the western face of Spring Mountain high above the Sonoma Valley. Built in 1978 and constructed from timber grown and milled on the property, the barn-style winery is the work of late architect and close family friend William Turnbull (please see Winery and Cellar). Barrel aging caves were added deep beneath the winery in 1998, dug into the hillside below the winery and connected by a steep underground stairway.
Then there is the Napa Valley estate vineyard which is located at the foot of the Palisades Mountains, which line the eastern side of northern Napa Valley, lies our Napa Valley Estate (approximately one mile south of Calistoga). The property slopes gently to the west and is bordered by Simmons Creek, which flows from the neighboring Eisele Vineyard up-stream to the east. The Estate's well drained alluvial vineyard soils are remarkably consistent, comprised primarily of cobble stones and loam.
Fisher makes a Mountain Estate and Wedding Vineyard from this vineyard and a tiny bit of Syrah, from the valley they do Lamb, Coach Insignia and Cameron and used to make RCF but that vineyard was replanted, these are all estate vineyards. The Unity label is all purchased fruit and they are around 3500 for the Cabernet, 1200 for the Chardonnay and they are growing these labels because the estate is very limited.
Certain world-class wines are defined by a single vineyard source, made unique by its particular, singular environmental conditions including soil and climate... Others echo a broader range of tones reflective of several sites, carefully chosen and woven together demonstrating the art of blending wine produced from more than one site, estate or appellation. While Fisher Vineyards continues to build on the family's first generation successes that embrace the former philosophy, the second generation sets out to explore the later in UNITY.

This Pinot Noir shows beautiful fruit driven aromatics and plush texture. Notes of cherry, plum and a hint of citrus peel lift from the glass. The palate follows with beautifully balanced bramble fruit, rhubarb and cherry reduction, accented by notes of crème brulee and mocha. Boasting a lengthy finish, the wine closes with a savory component of dried herbs and harmonious acidity.
