Cote Bonneville Vintage Washington State Wine Offering – One of the best know secrets in Washington State at over 50% off!!

"You have only so many bottles in your life, never drink a bad one."

Len Evans

We intend to drink every bottle of great wine that we can!!  And I can’t pass up a deal on vintage wines that are ready to drink, especially when we can offer them at over 50% off.  This almost never happens when they score over (95 Points) in the Wine Advocate!

Washington State has been making some of the best wines in the Cabernet Sauvignon category for many years now but the Chardonnay has not been as highly regarded except for one from a tiny producer Cote Bonneville.

The DuBrul Vineyard is consistently recognized as one of the top vineyards in Washington State. The vineyard has been honored with the award of Vineyard of the Year in 2007 and again in 2009. DuBrul Vineyard designated wines, from Côte Bonneville and others, have consistently been well received by critics and sought after by consumers world-wide.

It is easy to recognize the microclimates of the 45-acre site and cater to these individually.  In distance measured by hundreds of feet or less, they observe different growing conditions and tailor their sustainable farming practices to provide for the individual needs of the vine. Low vigor soils combined with the deficit irrigation regimen produce small berries, small clusters, and low yields from the vines.

The vineyards own-rooted vines have a purity of expression of the vine and the soil. The unique flavors and structure of DuBrul grapes have inspired a plethora of vineyard designated wines over the years. Expressing this sense of place is the mission of Côte Bonneville.

In the words of Robert Parker Jr.’s Wine Advocate “"If you don't know about this winery, it's time to get it in gear."

(97 points) “It’s a particularly good sign when all I want to do is smell the wine in the glass. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Dubrul Vineyard has me entranced under its spell with aromas of fig, toffee, dried cherries and plum skin with elegant baking spices and dried purple flowers that lift the expression out of the glass. Medium-bodied, with 13.6% alcohol and no hard edges, the wine continually reveals layers of complexity and elegance in a seemingly endless parade of precision and finesse. Even though this is almost a decade old, the current release of 2012 shows life and longevity with fresh dark cherries and Christmas spice flavors. The Cabernet ends with a persistent finish that evolves on the palate for more than a minute, whispering in my ear and enticing me back for more. I can’t put the glass down, and I am not spitting a single drop. This is hands-down the best bottle I’ve ever tried from Côte Bonneville. Have no doubt, this is highly collectible and worthy of sitting next to the first growths in your cellar. The 2012 vintage marks this bottling's third ever release, clearly securing Kerry Shiels among the top echelon of Washington winemakers. It spent about two years in 100% new French oak barrels. Bottled unfiltered and unfined, the Cabernet hibernated in the bottle for half a decade before being released to the world. Only 432 absolutely brilliant bottles were filled. It's well worth the price.” (12/2020)  Wine Advocate

Côte Bonneville 2019 DuBrul Vineyard Estate Chardonnay, Yakima Valley - Great Northwest Wine

2016 COTE BONNEVILLE DUBRUL VINEYARD CHARDONNAY, YAKIMA VALLEY WASHINGTON

Price: $59.00                     Sale Price: $28.50            Quantity in Stock: 33

This wine has a beautiful bouquet of red apple, candied lemon and vanilla bean crème Brulee with hints of white flowers and wet stone like minerality.  A rich and creamy wine on the tongue with layers of fruit, a nice touch of oak spice and a firm hand of acidity holding everything firmly in place, you notice the evolution of several years of age but this wine still has freshness and will continue to age for 5-7 more years in the cellar.  Finish 45=  Excellent

A bit about Cote Bonneville Winery and DuBrul Vineyard

Owen Bargreen

In 1992 Hugh and Kathy Shiels planted DuBrul Vineyard. The steep south-facing hillside yields grapes with unique flavors and structure. In 2001, we founded Côte Bonneville to produce classically styled wines that best express our spectacular site. Kerry, our winemaker, creates beautiful wines from all our varietals, showcasing each terroir.

Recognizing the uniqueness of DuBrul Vineyard, we founded Côte Bonneville in 2001 to showcase this special site. Producing around 2500 cases per year, we are pleased to be able to show the range of grapes and terroirs within the vineyard, while maintaining the exceptional attention to detail to each and every lot.

Hugh has been dubbed the Vineyard Master. He and Kathy Shiels purchased the property for the vineyard in 1991, and they tore out the original apple orchard that winter. Their goal was to improve the vineyard every year, and they have continued to keep this pace decades later.

Hugh and Kathy settled in Sunnyside after Hugh completed his orthopedic surgery training in Memphis. He continues to practice orthopedics part-time, but primarily works with the variables that winegrowing presents each year.

The foundation of our enterprise, Kathy planted the DuBrul Vineyard with Hugh in 1992. After realizing the unique nature of DuBrul, Kathy determined to establish Côte Bonneville when their last child went to college. Now, her mission is to showcase the spectacular fruit of the vineyard in world-class wines.

Kathy and Hugh settled in Sunnyside after Hugh completed his orthopedic residency. Kathy practiced physical therapy, raised three beautiful children on the family farm, and now wears many hats at the winery, vineyard, and medical practice.

Meet Kerry Shiels: A Yakima Valley winemaker with vision (#WinePW) – My Full Wine Glass

By combining traditional winemaking techniques with cutting edge science, we craft estate-grown DuBrul Vineyard grapes into world class wines. The exceptional winemaking and DuBrul Vineyard character shine through year after year.

Kerry is the winemaker for Côte Bonneville. She began making wine in middle and high school in a series of science projects. After earning her engineering degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, she worked in Torino, Italy in Fiat's management development program. She was then transferred to Case New Holland (CNH) world headquarters in Chicago before deciding to enter the world of wine.

Kerry received her master's degree in Viticulture and Enology from UC Davis, and then assumed the winemaker title in August 2009. She has been immersed in DuBrul Vineyard and Côte Bonneville since the inception, but especially since 2005, when she left engineering.

Kerry gained experience in Napa, California, Argentina, and Australia. She has worked in all aspects of winemaking at Joseph Phelps Vineyards, Folio Fine Wine Partners, Robert Mondavi Winery, Tahbilk, and Tapiz, before returning to Côte Bonneville full time.
