2004 Bouchard Pere & Fils Montrachet Grand Cru

2004 Bouchard Pere & Fils Montrachet Grand Cru image

(96 Points  --  Burghound)

(opened from personal storage). A now fully mature nose still requires some vigorous swirling to coax the reluctant cool and airy white flower, ripe orchard fruit and spice notes to reveal themselves. The large-scaled flavors are reasonably well-concentrated, and particularly so for the vintage, with a powerfully focused finish brimming with minerality. This is big and intense but impeccably well-balanced and actually comes across almost like a great Chevalier-Montrachet. For my taste this has reached its peak though it should have no trouble holding here for years to come. In a word, magnificent. Multiple, and consistent, notes.
