(98 Points -- Int'l Wine Review)
Starting off a bit reductive in the glass, this eye-popping, deep-ruby wine presents aromas of black plum, dried violet, mocha, crushed stone, dried wild sage and crushed black olive. A combination of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier which gives it some nice lift on the nose. Ample acidity, sweet integrated tannins, and impeccable balance on the palate, it’s a wine that needs plenty of air to express itself. Allow it to open up over 2-3 hours while taking a quick sip every 30 minutes to experience how it changes over time. The finish goes on and on while the palate brings fun characteristics of bacon fat and just a hint of grapefruit pith. It’s ready to drink now but should cellar well for another 10-15 years.
