2012 Mitolo Shiraz The Jester McLaren Vale

This is one of our favorite everyday wines in the store, Aussie Shiraz over delivers if you love big chewy reds and although some can be sweet and a bit hot in terms of alcohol, this Mitolo Jester Shiraz has a wonderful balance of Ripe blackberry fruit, dark spices, chocolate and a wonderful zest and freshness to the finish leaving the tongue salivating for a second glass.  Finish 40+  Excellent and one of the top rated wines for the money in according to Australia’s top wine journal.

Mitolo Winery was founded in 1999 and is the handy work of Frank Mitolo and good friend and winemaker Ben Glaetzer.  Mitolo and Glaetzer wanted to create a premium, hand-crafted winery with uncompromising high-quality production values.  Ben’s father Colin was the mastermind behind Hardy's "E+E Black Pepper Shiraz".  Their inaugural wine was the 2000 GAM McLaren Vale Shiraz which was lauded by both the Wine Spectator and the Wine Advocate.  Their portfolio has expanded to include vineyards in the Greenock area of the Barossa Valley and the Willunga District in McClaren Vale.

G.A.M. is named after the initials of their three children: Gemma, Alexander and Marco. The vines are located in well-drained mineral and limestone soils with harvesting usually in mid-March, a 10 day fermentation on skins and malolactic fermentation in French oak.
