Minty herbs, cedar shavings and pine give way to bright cherry-berry fruits as the 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Capriolo comes to life in the glass. Its textures are like pure silk, draped slowly across the palate, leaving a staining of mineral-tinged berries, licorice and violet tones to linger. A juicy core of brisk acids helps to alleviate a bit of the tannic heft, as the 2015 tapers off with tremendous length and a primary coating of intense red fruit. It will take a number of years for the Capriolo Riserva to find balance, but it’s a wait that will be well worth it. (EG)    Review Date: 08/2021
