Moving to the 2012 and a smoking Gigondas that does everything right, the 2012 Gigondas Les Primaires is comprised of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre. Aged 12 months in tank, it is knockout stuff with gorgeous spice, underbrush, licorice, pepper and crushed flower-like nuances all emerging from the glass. This leads to a medium to full-bodied, seamless and elegant Gigondas that has big underlying structure, perfect balance and fine tannin that frames the finish nicely.
