2013 Alois lageder Romigberg Kalterersee Classico Sudtirol

Schiava is the grape varietal here but it is nowhere on the bottle it is Trollinger in Germany, 10% of their production most of which is sold locally.  This wine has a Pinot Noir like nose , light red berry fruit fresh flowers and maybe has a bit more funky earthy quality maybe more like Gamay or Nerello Mascalesi  and a pronounced minerality, a glacerial deposite and on bottom volcanic rock giving it a distinct minerality.  Tart red berry fruit on the tongue, pommegranite and cranberrty fruit, with that distinct minerality giving this wine a long finish.  Finish 40+    Excellent
