2023 Dr. Loosen Riesling Kabinett Erdener Treppchen

(92 Points) In a place renowned for steep vineyards, Erdener Treppchen, or little stairs in one that had stairs cut into the hillside ages ago. It's an upright Kabinett bottling from 60-year-old vines that embraces the classic, ‘just ripe’ style with such graceful minerality and glinting spice—the aromatics of chipped slate, tart lemon zest and beguiling spice from the red slate soils. The palate is light and lithe, as fresh and zest citrus pulp, lemon bee balm and sweet candied ginger are framed by a terrific stony minerality.(CP)  Decanter, Review Date: 12/2024
