2016 Forefathers by Goldschmidt Lone Tree Vineyard Alexander Valley

This is a small production wine only 300 cases and the vineyard site used to go into one of Geyser Peak. This wine has a complex bouquet of currant and dark cherry fruit with an array of fresh earth, tobacco spice, nice complexity on the nose, mineral/pencil lead. Started his own label in 1998 while working for Simi. Big and chewy on the tongue with a good amount of dark cherry, currant berry fruit, fresh plowed black earth and dark mocha spices, very long and complex finish, also better on the second day.
