Sage, rosemary, tobacco, menthol, sweet spices and red berries meld together in an exquisite, gracious wine loaded with finesse and class. Bright red berries, rose petals, mint and crushed rocks add energy on the finish. The style is medium in body, but there is plenty of energy and cut to ensure years of fine drinking. Today, the DB4 challenges Bryant's top wines. I am not sure that will always be the case, but today, the DB4 is terrific. In 2011, the blend heavily favors Merlot, which was the strongest variety in that year across the board. The blend is 35% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Franc, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot.
