"Never understood a single word he said but I helped him drink his wine…and he always had some mighty fine wine." -- 3 Dog Night
I remember the 2003 vintage from Bordeaux very well, the reports of how hot it was all summer long and then at the end when the harvest was taking place we started to get orders for futures!! The wines were bubbling away in their fermentation tanks and consumers were eager to buy them even before Robert Parker Jr's lips or any other wine critic had even whiffed the fumes of the juices, but the hype had begun.
The wines sold out quickly once the reviews hit and it was one of the last years that there were a lot of reasonably priced wines in the Grand Cru Classe range from the left bank on futures. The 2003 vintage from Bordeaux has evolved quickly with most of them starting to drink at or near their peak already. We have a small number of cases we just received from a collection and these were all bought upon release and stored in one cellar until we brought them to Wine Watch a few months ago.
As I like to say we are doing scientific research with wine and you know that I can’t resist myself when I get wines like this in so I immediately put a date on the calendar to drink some of these 2003 vintage Bordeaux before they are gone again!
Join us as we experience this vintage at 21 years of age along with a special meal to accompany these 2003 vintage Bordeaux. The fee for this tasting which includes dinner is $350 + tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463.
