"Even though a number of people have tried, no one has yet found a way to drink for a living."--
Jean Kerr

I beg to differ with that opinion as I do drink for a living and have a show called "What I Drank Yesterday" now on the Instagram TV platform every day following our tastings at 3:30pm you can watch live to see how the wines showed and what the crowd picked as wine of the night!
Speaking of Instagram stars my good friends Jean Charles Boisset is one of the most interesting winery personalities that you will meet.   I met JCB over 25 years ago when I worked with Republic National Distributing over and he has the same energy and passion today that he had back then.  We put together several wine dinners in the past and were out on more than one occasion after dinner to check out the afterhours festivities of the South Florida nightlife, we also share a common vintage… we are both 1969 babies.
The Boisset family is one of the largest landholders in Burgundy and Jean Charles married Gina Gallo, making this rather important wine family of France now joined by marriage to the largest family owned winery in the world.
This tasting will showcase several of the Boisset properties in Northern France.  J. Moreau from Chablis, the northernmost region of Burgundy we have the winemaker Lucie Depuydt born in Chablis and one of the most gracious hosts on our visit in 2020.  The next-door neighbor to Chablis that no one knows is Jura and no one knows the wines of Jura like Domaine Maire’s winemaker Jacques Hauller.
Join us for a special evening with two of France’s top winemakers from the Boisset family of wines.  I forgot to mention that my co-host for the festivities this evening is the intellectually charming Neil Ruane.  One of the most knowledgeable members of this organization, Neil will guide is through the Beaujolais wines of Mommessin.
The fee for this tasting which includes dinner is $195 + tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463 or e-mail andy@winewatch.com.

2019 J. MOREAU & FILS MONT DE MILIEU, CHABLIS PREMIER CRU, FRANCE
Price: $60.00                   Your Price: $52.80
The 2019 Chablis Mont de Milieu Premier Cru is a light gold color with a complex nose showing flavors of white flowers and white fruits (peach). Unctuous in the mouth with delicate and pleasant aromas of yellow fruits, hazelnut notes and a long, rich and quite saline finish.

J. Moreau Montmain Chablis 1er Cru ...

2020 J MOREAU CHABLIS MONTMAINS 1ER CRU
Price: $60.00                   Your Price: $52.80
(91 Points) The 2020 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru is showing a bit of oak on the nose, although that should assimilate with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine depth married with a keen line of acidity, harmonious and poised with wild peach and light orange pith notes towards the finish. Good tension here, breezy and carefree - this is a Chablis that you will just enjoy drinking, as banale as that is. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis.  Vinous

2020 J. MOREAU & FILS CHABLIS VAUCOUPIN 1ER CRU
Price: $60.00                   Your Price: $52.80
Pale gold color. Powerful bouquet showing peaches and bergamot aromas with grilled almonds notes. An ample and powerful wine in the mouth, with notes of dried fruits, spices and citrus.

J. Moreau & Fils Chablis Grand Cru “Les Clos” - Boisset Collection

2020 J MOREAU CHABLIS LES CLOS GRAND CRU
Price: $125.00                 Your Price: $110.00
(97 Points) Only a slight quiver of smokiness intrudes on the wet chalk and lemon nose of this wine. The palate is striking in its serenity and balance, an apt representation of the ripe 2018 vintage. It offers immense juiciness but somehow, the age-old limestone complexity takes the lead, affirming that over the years, only depth will matter. Nonetheless, the wine has immense charm, smooth texture and absolute freshness. ANNE KREBIEHL MW  DECEMBER 31, 2020 | WINE ENTHUSIAST

A lovely pale gold color.  The nose is mineral and very expressive, with notes of lily of the valley, orange zest and brioche.  On the palate, the wine is round and still a little closed, with aromas of pink grapefruit and crème brulée. The finish is long, smooth and delicately mineral.

2019 MOMMESSIN COTE DE BROUILLY LES GRANDES MISES, BEAUJOLAIS, FRANCE

(91 Points) Bright violet. Intensely perfumed aromas of fresh red berries, potpourri, incense and smoky minerals; a peppery note adds spicy lift. Sweet and seamless on the palate, offering juicy red and dark berry flavors along with suggestions of spicecake and candied rose. Shows very good clarity and solid punch on a long, incisive finish framed by silky, harmonious tannins.  DECEMBER 1, 2017 | VINOUS/ANTONIO GALLONI

2020 DOMAINE MAIRE ARBOIS PINOT NOIR VIGNES DE SORBIEF JURA FRANCE
Price: $30.00                   Your Price: $26.40
In the Jura area, Pinot Noir is often blended with other varieties, for its flavour and cellaring potential. It can also be enjoyed as a single-varietal wine. Planted since the 15th century in the Jura, on gravelly soils, it is often the first vine variety to ripen in the area. It gives red wines with a strong colour and hints of wild mushrooms, cherries and wild berries.

With its limpid ruby red colour, this Pinot Noir has a pleasant, pure and fine nose, revealing aromas of red fruits. On the palate, it is a powerful, rich wine with notes of black fruits and fine spices. The tannins are very present and the wine is elegant, making it a good wine for laying down.

Product Detail | J Moreau & Fils Chablis
A BIT ABOUT J. MOREAU
Since 1999, J. Moreau & Fils has developed the original and highly dynamic concept of “viniculture” and, by extension, the profession of “viniculteur.” “Viniculture” is the link between vinification and viticulture, combining two intrinsically linked aspects of winemaking – the work in the vines and that in the winery and cellar.

At each step, our main asset is the alliance of savoir-faire. This savoir-faire is embodied by Lucie Depuydt, the winemaker who like a jeweler chiseling a gem, combines her geological knowledge to handle the wines carefully and with precaution to both bring out and protect the subtle and very sensitive aromas of Chardonnay grape.

Chablis-born Lucie Depuydt, the winemaker for the past seven years, has been sharing her close understanding of the local soil and experience in the world of winemaking.

«[...] my aim as an enologist in a region like Chablis is to preserve as much as possible the aromatic potential in the grape, to bring out the expression and characteristics of the terroir after vinification.  […] »

Her work starts with selecting plots, continues by monitoring the vines with partner winegrowers during the key phases of the growth cycle, and establishing the date for harvest in particular. Lastly, she supervises the vinification, ageing and blending of the Chablis wines made by J. Moreau & Fils.
Lucie Depuydt manages the equivalent of a 200-hectare estate, with the additional responsibility of sourcing grapes in this hostile terroir. She is a young woman with broad shoulders, her feet firmly planted on the ground and her head in the stars.

Mommessin

A bit About Mommessin
Founded in 1865, Mommessin has been bringing the world excellent wines from Beaujolais and Burgundy since it began exporting in 1890. Through our own properties as well as long-term contracts with growers, some over 100 years old, we are able to consistently bring you exceptional wines of quality. The story behind the key: in 1889, Mommessin acquired La Grange Saint-Pierre, several ancient stone buildings in Mâcon that originally belonged to the Abbey of Cluny. The abbey’s emblem, the Key of Saint Peter, became an enduring symbol at the Mommessin winery, one that can be seen today on all our Mommessin wines.

Domaine Maire et Fils
A bit about Domaine Maire
Domaine Henri Maire has been nestled in the Jura, a wine region in eastern France between Burgundy in the east and Switzerland in the west, since 1632. Founded by a man named, Maire, for over 300 years, generations of Maires succeeded one another, strengthening the Maison’s expertise. For Domaine Henri Maire, the “Path to Gold” is an initiation to the richness and diversity of Jura wines. It starts with Côtes du Jura, which exalts the freshness of Chardonnay. It follows with Arbois, with its rich palette of wines, the use of Savagnin and the mysterious veil ageing. Considered to be one of the world’s greatest wines, Vin Jaune has a golden yellow color, hence its name.
