Bordeaux Wine Tasting back to the 1929 Vintage

We love vintage wines and have some incredible tastings featuring wines going back 100+ years of age.  I tend to like wines that still have a good amount of fruit left and although you can keep Bordeaux for a long time in some cases 50-100 years I tend to like them from 20-40 years of age.  For my taste that is when great Bordeaux from great vintages really starts to hit its peak years of drinkability. 

Looking around the store I found that we had a bottle of 1929 vintage Chateau Laburthe Brivazac Pessac, so I figured it’s time to do a little experiment to see just how this vintage is drinking and of course we have thrown in a few other vintages to see how they compare with some of the oldest Bordeaux that we have in store from a decade apart old wines like 1966 and  1976 along with 1986 that I would consider are drinking at their peak right now.

For those of you that can’t make the tasting I have included all the Bordeaux from these producers that we have in the store on this offering on SALE!

Ok, Haut Brion is not on the list for the tasting but the Laburthe Brivazac Pessac is no longer around as the chateau was purchased by the owners of Chateau Haut Brion and since the chateau were was classified in 1855 and not the dirt like in Burgundy.  Chateau Haut Brion can purchase any Chateau in Pessac Leognan and incorporate the vineyards into the wines of their top wine.  So I have in a way listed the wine of Laburthe Brivazac Pessac is now part of this family of wines including Chateau La Mission Haut Brion.
