“Someone said drink the water, but I will drink the wine / Someone said take a poor man, the rich don’t have a dime / Go fool yourself, if you will, I just haven’t got the time / I’ll give you back your water, and I will take the wine.”

Frank Sinatra

Water and wine are the only two things that I drink for the most part and hey why do we need water at all wine is 80-85% water!!

Summer is here and gone which means this is the last of our “Happy Hour” style wine tastings.  These tastings start at 6pm and are a casual event, a belly up to the bar or just hang out with your friends.  The food is also casual, this is not a sit-down dinner but a true “Happy Hour” style event…with GREAT wines.

We love the new world Rhone wines coming from the Southern California and of the top new wave of Rhone Rangers in town for this event.  Join us as we welcome the founder and winemaker of Booker Winery Eric Jensen to South Florida for a tasting of new releases.

This tasting starts at 6pm and chef Toni will be making some tasty treats to accompany the wines.  The fee for this tasting is $95 + tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463 or e-mail andy@winewatch.com

2021 HARVEY & HARRIET WHITE BLEND CALIFORNIA
Price: $27.00               Your Price: $23.76

This new addition to the Harvey & Harriet family brings a fun, medium gold tone at first glance. Hints of tangerine, pineapple, and honeydew exude from your glass in this aromatically driven delight. A subtle saltiness with nutmeg undertones lead you into this lighter in body wine that still manages to possess a unique, restrained creaminess that can be appreciated by all. The burst of bright, refreshing acidity leaves one immediately ready for the next sip. The precise and understated oak finish show that this playful wine has a serious side to it as well. Be ready to drink this as soon as you get home on a warm, summer evening or as an addition to your meal with lighter fare. For those that are patient, you will most definitely be rewarded with a cool complexity as this wine ages gracefully.

My Favorite Neighbor 'blanc' San Luis Obispo Chardonnay 2021 750ml (Pre-arrival) - 67 Wine & Spirits

2021 MY FAVORITE NEIGHBOR MFN BLANC CHARDONNAY SAN LUIS OBISPO COAST
Price: $31.50               Your Price: $27.72

(97 Points) The 2021 MFN Blanc Chardonnay is very ripe in style with scents of banana chip, apple pie, jasmine, allspice and brown sugar. The full-bodied palate is packed with ripe, spicy fruits and plenty of refreshing acidity, and it finishes long with a satiny, mouth-coating texture. It's an old-school style reminiscent of Napa that fans of ripe, oaked Chardonnays will enjoy. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

My Favorite Neighbor Harvey and Harriet Red Blend 2020 | Wine.com

2020 HARVEY & HARRIET RED BLEND CALIFORNIA
Price: $27.00               Your Price: $23.76

Harvey and Harriet is the Bordeaux blend created by Eric Jensen of Booker Vineyard, in an attempt to make a wine that his parents would love and could afford. It is a wine that’s made by hard work, the best vineyard sites, the best barrels, the best team and of course no additives or concentrates. A world class wine for everyone who appreciates high quality without the high price tag.

The 2020 vintage once again over-delivers with aromas of Bing cherry, red raspberry, blueberries, roasted rhubarb, cardamom, and brown spice. On the palate, pleasing sensations of vanilla and spice give way to grilled meats, olive tapenade, and cedar. The acid and tannin structure are perfectly balanced for either a Tuesday tipple or celebratory toast. This wine is meant to be enjoyed now.

My Favorite Neighbor Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 | Wine.com

2019 MY FAVORITE NEIGHBOR CABERNET SAUVIGNON, PASO ROBLES
Price: $55.00               Your Price: $48.40

(96 Points) Blended with a bit of Syrah and Petit Verdot, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep ruby-purple color and an alluring fragrance of cassis, violet, aniseed, bitter chocolate and coffee beans. It's notable this vintage for Goldilocks ripeness and seamless lift, offering a chocolate-like texture and very long finish.   Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Booker - Perl 2020 - Yiannis Wine Shop

2020 BOOKER VINEYARDS PERL RED PASO ROBLES
Price: $75.00               Your Price: $66.00

This inaugural vintage of Perl comes predominantly from the Booker estate, with contributions from two of our favorite westside sites: Catapult and Moonsprings. The individual lots were destemmed, fermented in stainless steel and aged in 50 percent new French oak barrels. Aromas of cured meat, black olive, black pepper, graphite and clove reveal undertones of violets and raspberry coulis. Full, round, mouth-coating lushness is framed by assertive gravelly tannins, all unfolding into a long, lingering finish.

Booker Vineyard Oublie 2018 | Wine.com

2018 BOOKER VINEYARDS OUBLIE PASO ROBLES
Price: $95.75               Your Price: $84.26

(96 Poins) Starting with the Oublie cuvée, this is the GSM blend from the estate that’s more Grenache-dominated. The 2018 Oublie checks in as 40% Grenache and 30% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre brought up in a mix of new and used French oak. Its vivid purple hue is followed by a gorgeous perfume of sweet black raspberries, white flowers, candied orange, and violets. This beauty is rich, full-bodied, and concentrated, yet has incredible purity of fruit, silky tannins, and an incredible sense of freshness. It makes you salivate on the finish and is already impossible to resist.  Jeb Dunnuck

Booker Vineyard Fracture Syrah 2018 | Wine.com

2018 BOOKER VINEYARD SYRAH FRACTURE PASO ROBLES
Price: $110.25             Your Price: $97.02

Deep and mysterious at first sight, the 2018 vintage is rich and velvety on your palate. There is an interesting balance of earth and fruit, with traces of sweet beets, dark plums and chocolate. Though this silky wine will pair with anything, our thoughts are going to salty popcorn by the fire or Dutch Gouda cheese with some black truffle mustard.

A bit about Booker Winery and My Favorite Neighbor

The name Booker comes from the two orphan brothers, Claude and Dick Booker, who had purchased the land in the late 1920’s. By the turn of the century the Booker brothers had acquired over 1,200 acres on Paso's Westside. They dedicated their lives to being great farmers and humanitarians, leaving 100% of their estate to charity when they passed, Dick in 1990 and Claude in 2000.

Eric and Lisa Jensen purchased 100 acres of the property in 2001 with the intent of growing the best fruit for some of the best wineries in the area. After making wine with Justin Smith (of Saxum) for five years and Stephan Asseo (of L'Aventure Wines) for two years the Jensens decided it was time to create their own expression with Booker Vineyard. The 2005 Vintage was Booker Vineyard's first release with the wines being made by founder Eric Jensen. The vineyard received organic certification in April of 2021.

Booker is dedicated to the pursuit of farming perfection, constantly striving to find the perfect balance in the vineyard through certified organic farming practices as well as methods that draw inspiration from biodynamics. The westside of Paso Robles terroir is unique, boasting extreme vertical slopes and calcareous soils. Limestone beds with very little water make it hard to believe that anything could grow, yet the Booker estate produces some of the greatest wine grapes on earth.

In the cellar, our job as winemakers is to uncover the vintage Mother Nature gave us and showcase the quality of the fruit.  It may mean a soft winemaking touch to craft an elegant wine, or pushing the limits to create a beast.  Regardless, the end goal is to produce legendary wines.  Wines that over-deliver and are delicious.  No arrogance, not confusing, only yummy.

Booker shares the property with My Favorite Neighbor. If you’re coming to the neighborhood, we recommend kicking up your feet and staying a while. The MFN Lounge is open every Thursday-Sunday!

We’re so glad you’re here. At My Favorite Neighbor, our door is always open. Our wines make life’s little moments that much sweeter. Inspired by the close friendship of two passionate winemakers in the heart of Paso Robles, we craft our wine with a collaborative spirit. Starting with high-quality farmed fruit (and little else), today, we work with growers from a collection of our neighboring vineyards and our own. The result? Incredibly delicious wine meant to be shared and savored from our neighborhood to yours.

My Favorite Neighbor celebrates people, community, and moments made even better with a fantastic bottle of wine. Our wine is meant to be shared wherever life may find you—over sunsets, quiet nights on the porch, and at the dinner table. Inspired by the close friendship between our founder Eric and his original “favorite neighbor,” Stephan Asseo of L’Aventure Winery, our wines result from a collaborative spirit shared between two passionate winemakers in the heart of Paso Robles.
