whose wine? what wine? where the hell did I dine!"

Do You Feel Like I Do by Peter Frampton

We have a great line-up of wine tastings for the next few months and every night that we have an event on the Calendar of Events we are open at the Wine Bar like tomorrow night with winemaker Michael Trujillo we will have three open tables in addition to our group for the Sequoia Grove dinner and we always have the Wine Bar and Lounge open if we have an event going on that night.

I have included the menu for this week at the bottom of this e-mail.  Our 1980’s vintage Burgundy tasting is SOLD OUT on Thursday night but again there are still a few tables available in the Wine Bar for regular service and we have the bar and lounge open.  Chateau Latour back to 1945 is on for Friday night and we only have a few seats left for this epic “Once in a Lifetime” tasting- check out the calendar of events for the entire line-up for this event and remember if you don’t eat Foie Gras or Suckling pig toni is always willing to accommodate your special menu requests.

Saturday night we are CLOSED for a private event so the Wine Bar will not be open this Saturday February 24th

And next week we start on Tuesday night and have a full week of events and are open for regular service on my Birthday Saturday March 3rd!

Montefalco produces some of the greatest wines of Italy that most have never heard of and the Sagrentino grape has more polyphenols than Cabernet Sauvignon making it one of the biggest wines in the big red category.

Umbria also has some unique whites, sparkling wines, roses and lighter style reds to appeal to almost any palate.  Join us was we welcome the owner of Le Climate Winery Paolo Baroloni to South Florida as we sample through a selection of his current releases.  Chef Toni Lampasone will be making a special meal to accompany the tasting wines and the fee for this event is $85 + tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463 or e-mail andy@winewatch.com

Cantina Le Cimate Montefalco
“LE CIMATE” is situated in one of the most desired loca:ons at the heart of Umbria -Montefalco.  The cantina can be found in the middle of 28 hectares of land that were purchased by the Bartoloni family in 1993 from the Diocese of Spoleto. This site includes the property where the Curate of Casale resided.

The family has specialized in agriculture since 1800 and owns a total of 170 hectares of land, of which 108 hectares are used for grain produce, 15 hectares for DOP olive groves and 20 hectares culivate DOCG vines.

Situated on a splendid hill top with a 360 degree panorama view of on one side the Mont Martani mountains and on the other side the city of Montefalco, the cantina ‘Le Cimate’ takes the name of the actual location. This area which covers approximately 5 hectares now harvests 4 different types of high quality white grape vines.

Today the area of Montefalco is above all famous for the extraordinary wines that it produces such as the Montefalco Sagran:no Passito DOCG, a sweet desert wine with a high alcohol content from which the Montefalco Sagran:no dry wine derives with its very well sustained tannins and the Montefalco Rosso DOC wine which is a blend of sagrantino and other grapes local to the area.

In addition to these wines the can:na “Le Cimate” produces various high quality white wines to complete the range.

Three generations of the Bartoloni family have contributed to the construction of the cantina; grandfather Paolo who has dedicated his life to agriculture and moreover has always specialized in vine growing (he was president of the local community cantina ‘Colli Spoletini’ for more than 20 years); his son Giovanni who had the courage to believe in the investment necessary to realize one of the most modern cellar in the area; and grandson Paolo who with his degree in agricultural studies will dedicate the rest of his life to wine production.
