2012 Ovid Proprietary Red Napa

(96 Points) The prodigious 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon has slightly better availability (600 cases produced). It reveals classic textbook aromas of blackcurrant liqueur, tobacco leaf, licorice, baking spices and a touch of subtle toast in the background. Deep, full-bodied and opulent with great purity as well as density, it can be approached now or cellared for 15-20 years.

This small boutique operation has assembled some of Napa’s finest brains, including viticulturist David Abreu and well-known winemaking consultant Andy Erickson, to make these wines from rocky, red soils at 1,400 feet above Napa Valley.
