1999 Seven Lions Zinfandel Martinelli & Duckhorn Vineyard Russian River

(89 points) This opaque purple-colored, medium to full-bodied Zinfandel is produced from some of the Russian River's finest soils/vineyards. Sweet, ripe black currant and cherry characteristics combine with smoky oak, and tangy acidity provides definition, vibrancy, and freshness in this large-scaled, concentrated, dense effort. This excellent 1999 is sure to please Zinfandel enthusiasts, but the price is hard to swallow. Wine Advocate # 137 Oct 2001
