2013 Kara Pinot Noir Chalone

This is a small producer that is buying fruit from the vineyard that Dick Graff planted in the Pinnacles Mountains, Chalone AVA.  Katrina Rank is the winemaker and owner.  This wine has a pretty bouquet of wild strawberry and cranberry fruit on the nose with pretty floral highlights with exotic spices.  Only 3400 bottles produced, 11 barrels, the wine spends 10 months in old oak and she uses some new staves in the barrels to add some spice.  A very fine and elegant Pinot noir with savory red berry fruit on the tongue, silky smooth tannins and a nice amount of spice and floral notes on the finish 45+    Very Good +
