Chateau Mont Redon is one of the best known producers of wine in the famed Chateauneuf du Pape region (made more famous by the Beastie Boys song Body Movin') As well as this seminal Grenache based blend, they produce wines from surrounding villages, including this excellent, full-bodied white. Based on local grape Roussanne and with a dollop of Viognier for extra fragrance, this is is rich, round and personable. Aromas of lemon curd, apricot blossom, and almond lead into a golden-quince flavoured palate, with more almond shell and rich yellow peach. There is a roundness to the middle of the palate that is quite enticing, but the finish is dry and fresh, with a hint of orange. All in all, a great expression of these southern Rhone grapes, from one of the regions best names.
