2014 Chateau Tanunda Grand Barossa Shiraz

2014 Chateau Tanunda Grand Barossa Shiraz image

This is the oldest winery in Australia has some of the oldest plant material, this property was owned by Penfolds actually by Seppelt who was bought by Penfolds in 1977, John bought the property in 1998 and began to restore it.  Stuart Bourne is the winemaker formerly from E & E.  A very pretty bouquet of violet and dark coco and mocha spice, this wine has a bit of Cabernet Franc in it and a hint of Cabernet Sauvignon, by law the wine must be 85% varietal.  A good amount of dark plum and dark cherry fruit on the nose with hints of fresh earth and herbs.  A very fresh and balanced style of Shiraz with pretty floral nuance and ripe delicious cherry and plum fruit with a nice hint of spice and a zesty finish.  Finish 35+  This is around 50,000 cases produced of these entry level wines. Very Good
