2007 Dominio De Tares Bembibre Bierzo

The wine Dominio de Tares Bembibre is produced from the Mencia grape variety grown in six vineyards of over 60 years. The vineyards are situated on terraces and slopes with 20% inclination. The soils are of decomposed gravel and slate. The yield per hectare is minimum and produces grapes of enormous concentration, adequate ripeness and great balance between concentration and acidity. This wine spends 15 months in French oak. A big and complex wine on the tongue with a host of dark earth and mineral notes to the sundried plum/prune fruit with dried black cherry and blackberry jam like fruit licorice and espresso like notes very complex bouquet of aromas. Big and chewy on the tongue with layers of dark spice, fresh minerality and a long finish some dry tannins here with excellent freshness and a long finish. Finish 50 Most Excellent
