2015 Poggio alle Gazze Dell Ornellaia

The Sauvignon Blanc vineyard was planted in 1980 with the first vineyards and it was taken grafted over in 1999 to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot but 1000 vines did not take the grafting so this Sauvignon Blanc is very intense from these vines that apparelty had strong DNA for Sauvignon Blanc. This wine was reintroduced in 2010 to the market, a mixture of 33% Stainless, 33% 1 year and 33% New Barrels 6 months on the lees, they have also purchased a new Sauvignon Blanc vineyard planted in 1992 so in 2013 they will have a bit more wine. Very intense bouquet of pretty floral notes from the 10% Viognier and white grapefruit and lemon citrus, fresh earth/onion peel and some vanilla spice here, very complex bouquet of aromas, even better on the second day. Nice richness on the tongue with a texture of whole milk that tangy grapefruit savory finish along with a touch of vanilla, mineral/chalky notes, a very long layered finish. Finish 45+ Most Excellent
