Gigondas is just a few miles from Chateauneuf Du Pape and this is a very diverse appellation, many of the great producedrs of Chateauneuf have ventured down to this less famous region as they have a good potential here and the Perrin family was only interested in the terroir here that had a sand outcropping on the top and limestone on the bottom. The parcel that they bought is prephyloxera and the reason that the vines survived is because this sand. the L'Argnee is 100% Grenache, the vines are at 300- meters, they look like small trees at 140 years old and this wine has exceptional balance a bit pinotesque. This wine has a very pretty nose with pretty cherry and plum like fruit with smooth silky tannins and a long finish, a firm hand of acidity and a long finish very complex. I would like to try this wine in 10 years. Finish 50+ Most Excellent +/KILLER
