They hosted the first Grenache Symposium in 2010 on their property. This wine is a blend of 90% Grenache, 10% Syrah, aged for 11 months in oak, the winery is all gravity fed, this is the second vintage and they were released in 2010, that was their 2006 vintage. They do make a few whites only 1500 bottles of each this cuvee is around 500 cases produced annually. Very intense bouquet of dark berry fruit, Chen means oak tree and they have a blue oak on the property that the vineyard is named after. 2007 was a very good vintage for Grenache, concentrated masculine and mineral driven wines, this wine really speaks about the place where it is from. 50% new and 50% older oak with a whopping 15% alcohol but this wine is still balanced with lot of everything, blackberry fruit with dark spices and that unique minerality showing all the way to the end with lovely freshness with a long and nuanced finish.
