2017 Peay Vineyards Estate Scallop Shelf Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, USA

550 cases of this single vineyard wine, this is the most elegant and pretty of all the Pinot Noirs, lots of scallop shells in the vineyard with pretty floral notes a bit of that sea shell like minerality, a slight briny quality with red and black berry fruits, very aromatic bouquet of aromas. Wow this wine is explosive on the tongue, not big in size, but in the nuance, an array of pretty floral notes, exotic spices and that briny sea like quality and a solid core of raspberry coulis like fruit, fresh lively finish, very long and layered. (95 Points) The 2017 Pinot Noir Estate Scallop Shelf is distinguished by its bright, focused personality and energy. As it often is, the Scallop Shelf is a wine of reserve and tension, showing plenty of savory and mineral character and less overt fruit than some of the other wines in the range.
