2014 Palmina Pinot Grigio Santa Barbera County image

(90 points) Palmina's 2014 Pinot Grigio is crisp and refreshing, with plenty of stone fruit and floral notes. The non-malo style keeps the flavors bright and slightly reductive, while a touch of lees stirring adds texture. From top to bottom, this is a compelling set of new releases from Steve and Chrystal Clifton at Palmina. In addition to the current releases, the Cliftons poured two 2005 Nebbiolos, both of which were impressive. Although all of these wines are delicious, if there is one wine that delivers an especially compelling mix of quality, personality and value is the Barbera, which is on a par with the best versions from Piedmont.
