1996 Trimbach Pinot Gris Hommage a Georgette

This Pinot Gris was produced in honor of Georgette Trimbach, the esteemed matriarch of the Trimbach family, grandmother to Hubert and Bernard. Only 750 cases of this wine were produced from the oldest vines on the Trimbach estate.

1996 was a great vintage in Alsace and Pierre Trimbach produced fantastic Pinot Gris, perhaps the best ever produced, which will age easily another 10-15 years. The grapes were picked as late as possible in order to achieve maximum ripeness which, in turn, gives optimum depth of flavor and complexity.

Rich and fragrant nose, apricot and touch of botrytis. Very ripe fruits in the palate, creamy texture, full-bodied. Very charming, meaty, extract rich, good acidity. The Pinot Gris was extremely fine in 1996. Beautifully balanced.

Delicious with rich dishes, such as foie-gras or goose-liver paté, veal sweetbreads, and duck filets. Excellent wine to be matched with creamy sauces and mushrooms. Great companion to many fish dishes, smoked salmon for instance, Dover Sole, Turbot, Monkfish, and Sea bass. Great companion to white meats, veal, poultry, or chicken, especially in white wine sauces.
