2017 Braida Il Baciale Pinot Noir Barbera

Il Bacialè”, in Piedmont dialect means the matchmaker and describes the person who arranged marriages between members of noble families in the area. This wine in fact originates from the perfect marriage of Barbera and other grape varieties.

APPELLATION: Monferrato Rosso d.o.c.

VARIETY: 60% Barbera, 20% Pinot nero, 10% Cabernet sauvignon e 10% Merlot.

VINEYARD: several sites, mainly between Castelnuovo Calcea and Rocchetta Tanaro.

VINIFICATION: the grapes are processed separately, alcoholic fermentation in steel tanks and malolactic fermentation takes place in wooden casks.

MATURATION: the wine is aged partially in big wooden vats and the remaining part in small oak casks for 12 months. Assemblage is followed by a period in the bottle of 6 months.

CHARACTERISTICS: a warm mouth feel, with plum, black pepper and cinnamon with a persistent finish. An elegant and complex wine.Accompanies Italian appetizers, red and white meats, young cheese. Serve at 16-18 °C.
