Dark earth and spices here on the nose, very well endowed with barnyard notes and black berry cherry and plum like fruit, nice complexity here and you notice the evolution due to bottle age. By law it has to be kept for 1 year minimum in oak (any kind) and 4 years before release. They used to use chestnut wood for barrels because it is a local wood and is very neutral. Very smooth and polished with nice complexity, spice and earth tones showing through the black fruit, the vines are from the 1960's some of the older vines on the property, excellent freshness and a long finish still some tannins here to resolve here- a big wine. Finish 50 Most Excellent
