1998 Neyers Merlot Napa

They make around 1000 cases and this is 15% Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend this year, in 1971 Bruce was working for an importer and met kermit and then Kermit opened his own store, Bruce went to mayacamas winery then to Joseph Phelps as GM and began making a small amount of wine wine under the Neyers label in the late 1980's but 1991 was the first official vintage and it was the same year he started working for Kermit Lynch, was also at Heitz and Stony Hill, Bruce has had a long storied career in the California wine business. Erin jordan still consults here but Tadeo Borchardt is the winemaker. A cooler year and you see the restraint in this wine with dark cherry and plum fruit along with a good hand of sweet herbs and some milk chocolate like notes. A good amount of ripe black cherry and ripe delicious plum fruit on the tongue with notes of dark chocolate, tobacco spice and sweet herbs on the finish, nice length and complexity here through the finish. finish 40+ Excellent +
