The name of the winery, Gratis refers to a settlement, a hamlet on the top of a hill, the bottle is very particular and they are trying to get people to adopt this bottle type as indegenous to the region. There are now 20 producers that are using this bottle. This is all estate is 20 hectares of vines of the 1400 in the Collio, region only 12 miles from the sea this is 30,000 bottles produced, 100% stainless and 8 months sur lees, a very rich bouquet of tree fruits, steely mineral notes and a touch of chilky mineral highlights very pure and focused bouquet. Nice richness on the palate with a purity that clean finish echoing the mineral, chalky wet stone like quality very typical of Collio, a long complex finish, not your light and simple Pinot Grigio, a wine that can age for a decade in your cellar.
