2010 Cousino Macul Finis Terrae Maipo Valley

(89 points)  The 2010 Finis Terrae started in the 1990s as their top wine, a selection from their Antiguas Reservas, and was a blend of Cabernet and Merlot. Today it is still mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with an added bit of Syrah. This 2010 is quite oaky, with notes of roasted sesame seeds, smoke, vanilla, black pepper and nuts, ripe black fruit and some earth aromas. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with elegance and power, freshness and good balance, if slightly international-styled. Give it more time in bottle to assimilate the 14-16 months of aging in oak.
