(92 points) A dense and chewy wine with lots of chocolate, berry and hints of herbs. Full body, tannic and flavorful. Needs time to soften. Extracted style but will come around nicely with bottle age. Try in 2019. James Suckling
This wine has deep plum with a scarlet edge a complex nose that displays the instant appeal and fragrances of shiraz and merlot. But it is truly driven by the lifted cassis, blackberry and leaf of cabernet. The layers of interest are added because of the dried thyme, sandalwood, cedary oak and earth. The palate receives instant taste, packed with bright berries, dark cherries and generous as well as deep plum fruits. This fruit sweetness combines with dark chocolate, mocha notes and supple as well as fine grained tannins to build a full and even palate. It pairs well with seared scotch fillet with mash potato and rosemary butter.
