2001 Sella & Mosca Marchese Di Villamarina Alghero

Algheris is the region where the winery is located, 35-40 years this wine is one of the iconic wines of the island, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, a varietal that has been grown here for over 100 years and this is a DOCG wine, very unique for this varietal in Italy. A very Bordeaux like bouquet savory herbs, cigar box spice and gravelly mineral notes to the currant and cassis like fruit, a mix of both American and French oak, both used and new, note released until the 5th year after the vintage. 1989 was the first vintage and they have made tre bicchniere 12 times making it the highest consistency of tre biccheiere awards of any wine in Italy. This wine has lovley balance and elegance on the tongue with a solid core of currant and cassis berry fruit , fine tannins and a long layered finish echoing the nuance and spice from the nose through the finish, this wine will last another couple of decades in your cellar.
