2008 Pott Cabernet Sauvignon Napa image

(91 points) Attractive floral, perfumed dark berry, red berry and red licorice aromas lead to an elegant stylish effort, with touches of fresh-cut flowers and fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2026. 195 cases made. –JL Vineyard Name: Stagecoach Vineyard Owners: Dr. Jan Krupp Appellation: Napa Valley Location: East of Oakville on Pritchard Hill Landscape: Steep hillsides with rocks everywhere Soil Type: Volcanic red clay loam Varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon Weimer and See Clone Climate: Cooler days because of altitude with warmer nights marine influence Particular Farming Methods: The block is farmed by tenacious and talented viticulturalist Amy Wornock and the great vineyard consultant to the stars, Sir Bob Gallagher. There are two clones of Cabernet Sauvignon Weimer rumored to be a “Samsonite†clone from Chateau Latour (a story collaborated by Jean-Louis Mandrau, my mentor and ex-director of Latour) and the See clone that made the great wines from Nathan Fay’s vineyard in Stag’s Leap that introduced Napa Valley on the world stage (think Pott Actaeon!).
