(100 Points) Absolute pure perfection in wine, the 2007 IX Estate checks in as a blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, which at that time came from 7-year-old vines. Reminding me of a great Saint-Emilion (despite being Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated), it has a gorgeous perfume of red and black fruits, white truffle, tobacco, and spiced meats, even with a kiss of iron in the background. Full-bodied, powerful, and concentrated, it has perfect tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish. It’s drinking at point today but has another two decades, although why wait?
