2001 Opus One Napa

(95 points) Outer quote mark 2001 was a moderate summer, leading to a relatively early harvest. It was winemaker Michael Silacci's first vintage and he opted for a long, 32-day maceration. The colour remains very deep with little maturity. It's lush but leafy on the nose, with a lifted cedary tone and considerable elegance. It's graceful rather than powerful now, but still shows some tannic grip. Its sucrosity is balanced by some fresh acidity. Textured and very long.
