2001 Chateau Mouton Rothschild Pauillac

2001 Chateau Mouton Rothschild Pauillac image

Chateau Mouton Rothschild is the only Chateau in Bordeaux to be elevated in status from the original classification of 1855. Aromas of cassis and black currant berry fruit lift from the glass with a full compliment of fresh ground coffee, coco powder and cigar box tobacco notes. Still quite austere on the tongue with tight black currant fruit, not revealing its potential today but has all the pieces in place. Finish 50 . EXCELLENT (94 Points) Very smoky, with berry, coffee and tobacco aromas. Full-bodied, with polished velvety tannins, plenty of fruit and a cedary aftertaste. Tight and compacted. This is better than the 2000 Mouton. It's a baby 1986 Mouton. Solid and very, very fine. Persists for a long time on the palate. Best after 2009.-JS Wine Spectator Issue: Mar 31, 2004
