2012 Alois Lageder Conus Lagrein Riserva Alto Adige

This is another wine named after the alluvial deposite in the form of a cone, and the lower part is referred to as the Conus, a distant relative to the Syrah varietal and this wine is very unique and has a dark color with a certain wild game like quality along with wild flowers and dark earth. Most produced around Balzano deep rich loamy clay soils but they are further south a bit ligher more limestone in the sand and loam a more femanine expression of this varietal. Birght zesty blackberry fruit wtih notes of dried flowers and that wild game like note here but a more femanin and less tannic style of Lagrein, a very distinct varietal. Finish 45+ Excellent +
