"Old red wine, not worth a dime; we'll have to finish it after crossing the line."
Old Red Wine by The Who
When we hit a subject we hit it hard and after our big Happy Hour tasting with Washington state wines I thought it would be a good follow-up to have our annual Washington’s finest vintage wine tasting.
Every year we focus on the world’s greatest wines and our annual Washington State’s Finest wine tasting always bring back fond memories of my trips to the Auction of Washington State wines which I attended three years in a row at one time but have not been back since 2013.
Whenever we have one of our good friends from Washington State in town we host them at the Wine Bar but we also continue to host at least one high level Washington state wine tasting every year focusing on vintage wines from the most sought after producers.
These wines are all 10+ years of age and some of the best producers that this state has to offer. I always say great Bordeaux needs 10-20 years before they start to get interesting and these Bordeaux varietals from the state of Washington are no different. Many of the wines on the table tonight are at or near their peak and the surprise of the night could be the oldest wine at 30 years of age now the 1994 Apex Merlot could be past its peak but that is why we host these events!
The fee for this tasting which includes dinner is $250 + tax, which is less than the price of the 2002 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon (100 Points) in the Wine Advocate! For reservations call 954-523-9463 or e-mail andy@winewatch.com
