“My only regret in life is that I did not drink more wine.”

 Ernest Hemingway

I am trying to drink as much wine as I can before I leave this earth!

We have been following Duckhorn Winery from the very beginning and when it sold in July 2007 to GI Partners, a private equity firm at a price believed to be over $250 million we were happy for Dan Duckhorn and his partners they had a good run and got out at the right time, just before the market crashed in 2008.  Usually this type of consolidation in the wine business is not a good thing but in this case the wines continued to be excellent and they continued to acquire vineyards as well as small wineries to add the portfolio to compliment the already existing brands.

Then, the company was sold to another private equity firm, TSG Consumer Partners, in 2016 and we were concerned for the continued reputation of this legendary brand but the feather in the cap came when Duckhorn winery’s 2014 Three Palm Merlot was named the #1 wine in the Wine Spectator top 100 list in 2017.  Then when they bought Kosta Brown in 2018 we knew that this company was interested in quality first and we are happy to say that Duckhorn Winery has not lost a step.

Join us as we welcome our good friend Cary Combine to host a tasting featuring the entire portfolio of the Duckhorn wine group including the 2014 vintage Duckhorn Three Palms Merlot along with a wine from each winery that this group represents.  The fee for this tasting is $125 + tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463 or e-mail andy@winewatch.com.

A bit about Duckorn Winery:

Co-founded by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in 1976, Duckhorn Vineyards has spent forty years establishing itself as one of North America’s premier producers of Napa Valley wines. From its modest inaugural vintage of 800 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon and 800 cases of Merlot in 1978, to its addition of Sauvignon Blanc in 1982, Duckhorn Vineyards has crafted a tradition of quality and excellence that continues today.
